Buddy – Double Yellow Headed Amazon
Posted on June 24th, 2009 5 commentsBuddy is a sweet 10 yr old Double Yellow Headed Amazon, with a wonderful personality. He sings and has a gentle nature. Due to a health issue the family has no choice but to give him up. Seems to prefer a female handler. He is in excellent feather.

Hello,
I was interested in Buddy and was wondering when he would be able for adoption. I have never owned a large sized bird but I have always had little birds such as cockateils.
Thanks,

Hi Jenn,
We typically only adopt large parrots to those with previous large bird experience. It is important for people to know what they are getting into. Specially since these are rehomed birds. Many come with baggage that requires an experienced handler. They are so very different that some of the smaller species like tiels and budgies. They can also become very aggressive if not handled correctly. Once in a while a bird comes in that would be good for anyone. We usually post that they would be good for a first time bird owner right in their descriptions. So please don’t give up. There are also some smaller parrots, ie. senegals, some conures, ring necks etc that are great for those with little or no experience and make wonderful pets!
