Having been a volunteer in many capacities over the years and having owned parrots since a child, I became very aware of what I felt was missing from the animal rescue processes. I have always been involved in animal rescue and volunteered for many agencies. I felt that the main missing link was in helping people keep their pets. Due to some life issues some people had no choice than to reliquish their pets due to health issues and divorces etc. In some of these situations only a period of time would assist the people in keeping their pets. Usually due to some sort of recovery period. We have always felt that it is best for any animal to stay with it's original owner if at all possible. We decided to set up the rescue with this in mind.

     Our first goal is to assist owners in keeping their pets if at all possible. We do this by offering behaviour training for the parrots and their families to help them overcome some of the issues that make it impossible for them to have a healthy and happy relationship and by offering foster care to assist those that may need to give up their pet for a period of time. We do this all on a donation basis as some people given these circumstances are unable to afford bird sitting services and kennel services for a prolonged period of time. We also offer this service to those that can afford it however we do require some form of payment.

     This allows for those that truly love their pets and would love nothing more than to keep them to be able to do just that. This is better for the birds to be able to stay in their homes where they are comfortable and loved.

     Not all people are able to keep their pets for many reasons and we do know that in some instances the best thing for a parrot can be a change in environment.

     We assist in finding forever homes for those that can be adopted out. We offer lifetime support to the new owners including behaviour assistance, foster care and bird sitting. We insist that for any reason they CANNOT keep their new family member that it MUST be returned to us. So we always are in control of where our alumni are and with whom to ensure they are always safe, healthy and happy.

     While your parrot is hear he will recieve plenty of one on one time as we do keep them in our home as this is really the only way pet birds should be kept. They require the socialization and one on one time only a home environment can offer. This also gives us the opportunity to monitor and work on behaviour issues to ensure when the bird is placed into a new home that we have done everything we can in order to make a successful adoption.

     The birds are giving a variety of fresh foods and fed a diet of Tropican Pellets and mixes.

     During the good weather the parrots are taken outside for fresh air and much needed sunshine. We have three season room that is mostly glass they spend the remaider of their time in which allows for good air circulation and plenty of sunshine and allows us to spend much quality time with them.

     We get frequent volunteers and guests here that spend time with the parrots as well and help with some of the daily chores.
