Kiko – Blue and Gold Macaw

Kiko is approximately 10 yrs old. He was dropped off here by his owners who were in a domestic dispute and didn’t want to traumatise Kiko any longer. We have no other history on him. He is a bit nervous presently but has stepped up and let me pet him several times already.

Mickey – Sun Conure

Mickey is approximately five years old and is a beautiful, fully feathered Sun Conure. Mickey came to us showing come cage aggression but is now coming around. He does know his step-up and he seems to prefer a male handler, although our female foster mom is able to work with him quite easily. Mickey loves to play with bells and prefers to sleep under the newspaper lining at the bottom of his cage.

Little – Green Cheek Conure

“Little” appears to be an adult Green Cheek Conure who was surrendered to the Humane Society. The staff there did not know if he had a name, so our foster home calls him “Little”. Since Little was surrendered, we have no history available for him. He has some feather damage on his chest but we are confident that he should return to full feather once he has had some time to stabilize. Little can be a bit nippy but knows his step-up.

Bubba – Yellow Nape Amazon

Bubba is a gregarious, talkative fifteen year old Yellow Nape Amazon. He was surgically sexed as a juvenile and is male. Bubba can be handled by both men and women but would not be good with young children. He LOVES to talk and interact and has a great vocabulary (he can even mimic a spaceship and call the dog!), but he is persistent in his vocalizations and would not be suitable for an apartment.

Zazoo – Indian Ringneck

Zazoo is a tame, friendly and playful Indian Ringneck. She has been well cared-for and is in good health and feather. She loves to play with foot toys and is very entertaining. Zazoo can be quite noisy and would not be suitable for an apartment.

Sierra – White-Capped Pionus

Sierra is a busy, active adult White-Capped Pionus. Like many other Pionus, Sierra can be bossy and fancies herself to be the flock leader. She can be cage-aggressive but when allowed to approach on her own terms, she can be very sweet, bending this way and that for head skritches. We are currently working on Sierra’s territoriality and we are seeing little improvements all the time. She would make a fantastic pet for a confident bird owner who is willing to work with her.

Ollie – Senegal Parrot

Ollie is a very friendly and curious Senegal parrot. She was originally surrendered to a pet store, and a kind employee took her in to try to help her stabilize. Ollie has now arrived at PASO for help addressing her feather destruction issues. She is somewhat special needs in that she is missing two toenails on her right foot and an entire front toe on her left, however this does not seem to affect her climbing and perching abilities in the slightest! Ollie needs a home that will look past her disheveled feathers and see her beautiful, resilient spirit.

Rare Spectacled Parrotlets

We have a pair of Spectacled Parrotlets. I understand they are quite rare in Canada. These were well cared for and in good health. Good feather quality. The female is 2 yrs old and the male is 3 yrs old. They are not tame as they were parent-raised. Would be suited to an apartment or for a new bird owner. Also would be good for children to watch and learn about bird behaviour.

Forrest and Remmie

Green Cheek Conures Remmie and Forrest have recently arrived at the rescue and are presently in a foster home. Remmie has been plucking some of the feathers on Forrest’s head out of boredom, but they are otherwise in good health and feather. They are both gentle and step-up willingly. They are talking a bit, but we haven’t been able to make out the words yet!

Alicia – Quaker

Alicia is a 5 yr old female Quaker. She was bonded to the owner and quite aggressive towards strangers, but since arriving at PASO we have not had this problem with her – she has now had her wings clipped and is stepping up willingly and even fluffing up for head skritches from everyone who is persistent in asking her to step-up (she will even tell you “step-up” as you offer your finger!) Alicia can be noisy and is not suitable for an apartment.
