Foster Care

We are not looking for additional foster homes at this time.

Our Criteria for Foster Homes

- Previous bird experience
- Vet Reference and two more references
- Home visit will be required
- You will be required to visit PASO on two occassions prior to acceptance
- Have adequate space for a cage or two
- Live within the Kawartha Lakes, North Humberland or Durham Region
- Any animals in your home must be healthy

What is Expected from a Foster home:

- To provide adequate out of cage time on a daily basis
- To return the bird within 48 hours once requested from Parrot Adopt Southern Ontario
- Foster homes will be given first opportunity to adopt their foster bird
- Provide soft foods and toys and playtime to your foster parrot
- Bring foster parrot to educational events if requested
- To provide PASO with updates on the bird on a regular basis
- To sign a legal and binding contract

What PASO will provide

- To provide a species specific staple diet
- Will provide a suitable cage if needed
- 24 hr assistance to the foster home for behaviour help, questions or anything
- Veterinary care as needed
- Will be able to take the bird back within 24 hrs if requested
- Will offer the foster home first opportunity to adopt the parrot at the standard adoption fee
