Rescue/Rehoming

Some life changes can put people in the position that they are no longer able to or capable of looking after their birds. Others become hard to handle, require special attention or don’t fit in with the changes taking place in your life.  We work at educating parrot owners to assist them in meeting the challenges of owning parrots and rescuing parrots when education is not the key.  We are available for emergency placement and can be available for same day pick up or drop off.

No all parrots that come to rescue are unwanted, neglected and abused,  Many are much loved but due to circumstances the owners are no longer able to provide a loving home for their pet parrot.

We feel that every bird deserves a loving home with lots of attention and care with understanding and knowledgeable people.  It is our goal to make this happen.  It is our primary goal to adopt a parrot into a home best suited to that particular parrot.  We assess the birds upon arrival for behaviour issues, training issues, special needs etc.  We have all this in mind when we look to rehome the parrot.

We make a commitment to the parrot and owner that we will do everything in our power to ensure we will find a safe, loving, caring and knowledgeable environtment for your parrot.

Our Adopt Process

Our process starts with an application/contract to adopt a parrot

Telephone conversations and further emails to determine their experience and ability to care for a parrot.

Home visits and environment check ups to see if they have the right environment to care for a rehomed parrot.

References

Visiting the parrot to see if there is a connection and comfort level  for the bird.

Educating the owner on the proper care of the parrot and full disclosure of any problems or concerns about the species in general or the particular bird.  We teach handling techniques and coping skills to help the new owner to understand and bond with their new pet parrot.

Life time support to answer questions and help guide them with any issues that may crop up.
